Shaun's Gold Medal at the 2010 Olympics





Apolo Anton Ohno, Speed Skating
Born on May 22, 1982, in Seattle, Washington, Apolo Anton Ohno started training at age fourteen. In 1997 he won the U.S. short-track speed skating championship and in 2002 he scored silver and gold at the Winter Olympics. He returned to the Olympics in 2006 and 2010, winning a record eight medals for a U.S. Winter Olympian. He also competed and won on the fourth season of "Dancing with the Stars."
Picabo Street, Alpine Skiing
Olympic skier Picabo Street, named after a neighboring town, was born on April 3, 1971 in Triumph, Idaho. She was a tomboy and enjoyed competitive sports. She joined the U.S. ski team at age 15. Her most notable win was the gold medal in the Super G event at the 1998 Winter Olympics. Later that year, she broke her leg in multiple places after slamming into a fence at the World Cup. Though she qualified for the 2002 Olympics, Street finished only 16th in the women's downhill event,
Shaun White - Snowboarding
Shaun White, born in San Diego, California on September 3, 1986, had two cardiac surgeries before the age of 5 due to a congenital heart defect. He began skateboarding after following his older brother to the nearby YMCA, and took up snowboarding at the age of 6. Known as the "Flying Tomato," White is a two-time Olympic gold medalist, and has won several medals at the Winter and Summer X Games.
